Concave joints are most common and weather-resistant, created using jointing tools that compress and seal mortar surfaces. Proper tooling timing is critical; we tool joints when mortar reaches thumbprint-hard consistency for optimal compaction and appearance.

Curing and protection ensure repointing work achieves full strength and durability. We keep newly repointed masonry moist for several days to allow proper cement hydration. We protect work from direct sun, wind, rain, and freezing temperatures during initial curing. Proper curing develops full mortar strength and prevents premature drying that causes weak, crumbly joints.

Chimney repointing is particularly important as chimneys suffer severe deterioration from weather exposure and temperature cycling. Deteriorated chimney mortar allows water infiltration that damages interiors and threatens structural integrity. We repoint chimneys from foundation to crown, rebuild deteriorated crowns with proper slope and overhang, and install or repair chimney caps.
